CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER : Joshua M. Levy was born in Los Angeles, California. He received his Bachelor of Science, with honors, in both Molecular Biology and Neuropsychology from the University of Oregon. He also received a Master of Science degree in both Biochemistry and Chemical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Oregon. Dr. Levy is a state licensed engineer in both Oregon and California.

As an engineer and scientist, Dr. Levy has represented clients in such diverse areas as petrochemicals, alternative energy, health care, agriculture, biotechnology, manufacturing, R&D, pharmaceuticals technology, food, and diversified chemicals.

In his primary research at the University of Oregon, Dr. Levy directed a project that focused on the developmental process of the visual and somatosensory cortex in the human brain. These findings were published in the Journal of Neuroscience. While at the university, Dr. Levy assisted on a project to study the effect of strokes on the human brain. As a result of this research, a stroke medication that would be carried by emergency response personnel is in its third stage of approval with the Food and Drug Administration.

Dr. Levy has overseen every stage of commercial plant design from development all the way through to construction supervision. He has served as the project manager in more than a dozen plants totaling in excess of $2 billion USD. Dr. Levy’s most recent work includes project management for the process design of a newly-constructed 5,000 barrel per day coal-to-liquid fuel plant in China. Other plants for which Dr. Levy has recently been the chief engineer are:

• Acetic Anhydride plant (130,000 metric ton/year capacity)
• Polycarbonate plant (65,000 metric ton/year capacity)
• Monochloroacetic Acid plant (20,000 metric ton/year capacity)
• Acetic Acid plant (100,000 metric ton/year capacity)

As an engineer, Dr. Levy led a team that developed a 100,000 ton/year liquid Cyanide plant in Mexico. Dr. Levy also designed and spearheaded a team that built a Methyl Acetate manufacturing plant in the United States. Products and projects developed by Dr. Levy have been used by or involved such companies as, Toyota, DuPont, Dow Chemical Corporation, Boeing, U.S. Army, Monsanto, Abbott Laboratories, Baxter Laboratories, Eastman Chemicals, Hewlett Packard, 3M Corporation, Suntory Water Group, Kaiser Health Care, Eden Bioscience, Shanghai Coking, Shanghai General, SinoChem International, Shenhua Group, SOPO, China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), China Petrochemicals, China National Petroleum Corporation, PetroChina, Jilin Chemical Industrial Corporation, China National BlueStar Corporation.

DIRECTOR, BUSINESS AFFAIRS : Richard S. Marten was born in New York City on May 19th, 1952. In 1974, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Vassar College and the degree of Juris Doctor from Benjamin Cardozo School of Law in 1979. He was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1980. As an attorney and business consultant, Mr. Marten has represented clients in such diverse areas as real estate development and syndication; public underwriting; motion picture production and distribution; cable television; national food distribution; satellite communications; oil and gas; solar energy; and manufacturing.


He has negotiated financing and structured business agreements on behalf of clients with major banks and financial institutions, as well as advising in the establishment of several federally chartered Small Business Investment Companies (SBICs). Mr. Marten has represented clients in negotiations with such companies and organizations as Hughes Communications; Kawasho International (Japan); the Weizmann Institute; and a number of foreign governments, including Great Britain, Canada, and Israel.


In the chemical industry, recent projects in which Mr. Marten has been involved as a principal in the development of the process technology include such companies as Shanghai Coking, Shanghai General, SinoChem International, Shenhua Group, SOPO, China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), China Petrochemicals, China National Petroleum Corporation, PetroChina, Jilin Chemical Industrial Corporation, China National BlueStar Corporation.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT: Rochelle Levy was born in Los Angeles. She is a Certified Financial Planner and received her Bachelor of Arts and Masters degree in Education from UCLA. She has taught at the Anderson Business School at UCLA and in the Home Economy Program at California State University – Northridge.

Ms. Levy is an international business consultant, specializing in the food service industry. She has consulted for over 250 companies, both domestic and international, including leading retail brands, manufacturers, full service restaurants, and convenience store, gourmet and fast food chains, in such areas as:

• Marketing
• Marketing research
• Sales
• Distribution
• Product sourcing
• Manufacturing
• Strategic Planning

Ms. Levy has been a business manager in the entertainment industry, representing producers, directors, performers, and composers. She writes for the food and travel industry, being a regular contributor to such publications as Los Angeles Magazine and the Los Angeles Times.
