The Prime 3 Multifunction Solar Controller is an outdoor, fully weatherproof unit that combines several functionalities necessary for tracking of Solar panels or Heliostat panels including: on-board micro-computer, various types of motor power drivers for DC brushed, stepper and optional AC motors, superhigh reliability Power Supply (with up to 500W power ) , PV monitoring/ measurement circuitry, embedded GPS for high accuracy and self-calibration, network-ready wire-line (RS485) and a wireless (802.15) communicator. Various analog and digital sensors can be connected to the Controller (for operation/measurement and reporting). Automatic single-axis and dual-axis solar tracking. Dual axis tracking can increase energy production by 40-60% in high altitude areas, and 30-40% in other areas. Single-axis tracking provides a 25-30% energy production increase. The unit is assembled in a compact 25 cm x 25 cm x 12 cm metal, water-proof enclosure (IP-67 rated) in order to withstand a wide temperature range (from -40 C up to +70 C) and water/moisture/wind/dust exposure. The Controller is also hardened against electrical storms. The geographical location of the controlled solar panel can be entered via a craft interface from the portable computer or supplied from the network though wire-line or wireless link. The Prime 3 Controller also has an option to determine those coordinates automatically through an embedded GPS receiver for ease and automation of installation and to eliminate the need for periodic calibration of the unit. After initial installation/calibration the Controller tracks automatically, with accurate (0.1 deg) determination of the Sun’s position throughout the year. An internal power supply and motors Power Drivers controls DC brush and stepper motors. (AC motor version is also available). Azimuthal and Elevation feedbacks are provided via Encoder input ports, maintaining calibration and precise solar alignment.

ALTERNATIVE ENERGY SOLUTIONS : BIOFUEL

By Summer 2009, Prime 3 Labs will offer what we believe to be the world’s most advanced biofuel production technology – a turn-key production system for converting plant oils and methanol into B100 and glycerin with the option of also manufacturing synesters (bio-lubricants), as dictated by local or regional market conditions. This technology offers the following advantages over existing processes: the capability of integrating local operations with oil seed processors, such as those using hemp, and other triglycerides (rendered animal fat or oil from algae culture). Current biofuel refining technology has limits on processing these oils and would require substantial pre-processing in order to turn them into biofuel. The process we offer can convert these oils much more easily and economically, positioning this as the leading processing technology now and in the future.

Prime 3 Labs is pioneering an innovative business model for the establishment of regional biofuel enterprises, using locally produced seed oils, fats and waste oils/fats as available, and building a market driven channel of distribution from feedstock through to retail fuel distribution and sales. This model is designed for those regions in need of fuel self-sufficiency. Currently, the planet is losing hundreds of thousands of hectares annually to desertification. Converting marginal land to productive use in remote regions with few resources for either energy production or consumption can significantly aid economic development efforts. For example, growing hemp on a large scale will provide fiber for rope, fabrics and other further processing; seed meal for livestock and poultry production and seed oil for biofuel and glycerin production. These are all saleable products. Oils processed to biofuel by this process provide fuel for heat, motor transport and electricity production, thereby enabling remote populations to become more energy self-sufficient.

3D IMAGING

This capability has been provided to many companies around the globe, notably the Karahnjukar Hydroelectric Project in Iceland. Included in the scope of that project was modeling of the tunnels inside the mountain and the power station. This work was used to market the project both to the public at large and to workers on site. Subsequently, this work was featured on the television program Mega Structures on the National Geographic Channel.
